Garth Ireland is an executive director of IWA. Since 1987 he has been a leader in the shareholder value revolution in New Zealand through the promotion and application of value-based approaches to business in both the public and private sectors. He evolved application of the economic framework for both pricing decisions and financial reporting for state-owned enterprises which subsequently lead to value-based reporting protocols for state-owned enterprises in New Zealand today.

Garth applies his experience in financial analysis and valuation, to the hard investment issues that arise in capital expenditure and acquisition/divestments and general contracting.

Garth is a Fellow and former Chairman of the New Zealand Society of Investment Analysts (Inc), (now the Institute of Financial Professionals, New Zealand (Inc)), and a member of the Journal's Editorial Board.

He holds a BCA (Economics) Victoria University of Wellington, 1967.
